"Anpan"
"An" means sweet jam made from "azuki" beans and
"pan" means bread. "Anpan" is a bread which sweet
jam are placed inside.
In 1875 "Kimuraya", a bakery in Ginza, Tokyo put bread
and sweet jam together, made "anpan". It was a great
hit and people lined up in front of "Kimuraya" to buy
"anpan".


"Gyuunikuya" (a meat shop)
Japanese people started eating beef after the Meiji
Restoration but at the beginning of the Meiji era, people
didn't want to eat it. As the rumor that beef was
delicious spread gradually and eating beef, gyuunikuya
(meat shop) became popular in Japan.
